In a previous article, I have shown you how to install OS X El Capitan GM (golden master) or other Beta version without developer account. As I sometime still need Windows-based program such as Mikrotik Winbox, I need to have WINE (Windows Emulator) on my Mac. In this post I would like to guide you how to install Wine on OS X El Capitan. At the time of this writing, the latest version of OS X is OS X 10.11 El Capitan GM (Golden Master).
Good instructions for installing Wine on Mac are available here. Instructions for Ubuntu are available here. The install process for other distros should be fairly straightforward as well. The TL;DR for intsalling on Mac is to install XQuartz and wine via homebrew: brew install Caskroom/cask/xquartz wine. Create a new wineprefix.

Requirements

- Installing Wine on Apple Mac. This tutorial explains how to install Wine application on Apple Mac. This application allows to run Embird (native Windows application) on Apple Mac computer. The XQuartz appplication must be installed before installing Wine. Note: Please note, that applications XQuartz and Wine for Apple Mac are not developed nor supported by Embird team.
- Download the WineBottler package. You can find it at It should.
1. Latest version of OS X El Capitan (Golden Master build at this time of this writing)
2. Latest version of Xcode (Xcode 7.0 GM, you can download it from https://imzdl.com/osx.html if you are not a registered Apple developer.
3. Homebrew package manager for OS X. We will install Wine using Homebrew package manager.
I assume that you have done installing point 1 and 2 in the requirements above. So we just go to install Homebrew package manager.
Install Homebrew
Run the script below to install Homebrew:

The format to install package using brew is 'brew install package_name':
To run a Windows program, use 'wine /path/to/program.exe'. Best vpn client for mac.

Sometimes a customization of Wine can cause an application to work, but this change cannot be incorporated into Wine for some reason. To help overcome current deficiencies in Wine, various third party applications for end users have been made over the years.
